Bonjour le Matin
Jorge De Hoyos & Macklin Kowal
|
A mobile work. A performance that asks: Quelle est la nature de l'action ? À quoi sert l'absurdité ? Peut-on arriver finalement à comprendre la dynamique de nos pensées telles qu'elles résonnent dans le milieu des autres ? Allez savoir... |

Home Theater Festival at Macklin’s Apartment in the inner Sunset and Various Locations in Golden Gate Park San Francisco, California Creation and Performance: Jorge De Hoyos and Macklin Kowal Guest Performances: Evan Johnson, Khalil Sullivan, Matisse Michalski, Yvette Choy, Ernesto Sopprani, B.J. Dini, Ernesto Sopprani, and the S.F.P.D. Duration: 2 Hours |
It started as a 15 minute piece for a small theater and then we made an epic 2-hour show that started at Macklin's old house in the Inner Sunset and then traveled on bike into various Golden Gate park locales. We gave two flip cameras to the audience so they could self-organize in recording as much of the actions as possible.
The show grew out of us loving and appropriating everything French and us fitting this Francophilia to our queer, politically-minded and artistic life situations in San Francisco, California at the time. |
A scene inspired by Françoise Hardy's hair, the Black Panthers, late 60s French student protests, a scene from the 1972 Marguerite Duras film Nathalie Granger, everything Jean-Luc Godard, César Chávez/United Farm Workers of America...
