Bending Tradición

This was the first performance I ever made.  I got my BA degree in Cultural Anthropology at the University of California at Santa Cruz, and I was also part of the traditional Mexican dance troupe there called Grupo Folklórico Los Mejicas de UCSC. I also took as many Theater Arts classes as I could where I was introduced to German Tanztheater (ausdruckstanz, Pina Bausch, etc...DV8 too). In my last year there, I made a full-length show that blended Folklórico dance and Tanztheater. It was at "the Barn" which was one of the small theaters at the base of campus. Thanks to my friends in Los Mejicas as well as the theater kids.
